“He said to them, ‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men’. At once they left their nets and followed him.” (Matthew 4:19-20)
Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry.
(CCC1536)
This sacrament is a call of love and service to the Church and Body of Christ. It configures the recipient to Christ by a special grace of the Holy Spirit, enabling to serve as Christ's instrument for his Church and to act as a representative of Christ, Head of the Church, in his triple office of priest, prophet, and king.
(CCC1581)
