Christian Stewardship
As Christians, we know that we are to give of our time, talent and treasure to those in need. Such giving is foundational, yet Christian stewardship is so much more. Being a true Christian steward is counter-cultural. As we grow in discipleship to Christ, we come to realize that our lives are not about us. Instead of seeking “more and more” as our culture preaches, we seek to become “less and less” by emptying ourselves of our desires and plans, in favor of doing God’s will and sharing what we have with others.
This transforms the way we live our entire lives. We embrace the truth that God is the origin of life and the source of all things. We come to realize we do not actually “own” anything. Rather, we are stewards of all God gives to us—time, talent, treasure, and the very earth on which we live. We are grateful for all that we receive and are eager to show our love for God by caring for these gifts—even multiplying them—and using them wisely as we share them out of love with others.
God calls us by name and has a unique plan for each of us. Our lives are purposed to discern and carry out that plan. We carry out our mission with an attitude of service and respect for the dignity of all persons. Being a Christian steward is both a joyous and challenging life, and we look to the teaching and example set by Jesus to guide our path. LEARN MORE
